Regular Waste Service Pickup Service is completed weekly on Mondays.  Organics Pickup Service will be provided from May – November annually.  Please remember:  Plant Waste Only – No Pet Feces

Val Quentin has a burn pit for the disposal of tree branches, as well as a compost area to dispose of aquatic vegetation and organic yard waste. You are welcome to contact any Council member for the key and access information.

Val Quentin residents are also welcome to use the Recycling Depot located at the Alberta Beach Public Works Shop at 5009 49 Avenue (Behind the Village Office)

Your cooperation in sorting Cardboard and Paper Production into their appropriate bins is essential.

Waste & Recycling Services

The Summer Village of Val Quentin is a proud member of the Highway 43 East Waste Commission, which provides regional waste management and recycling services for our community.

📍 Located east of Onoway on Highway 43
🕘 Monday to Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
🚫 Closed Sundays and all statutory holidays

💰 Disposal Fees & Rates

Waste Type Fee
General waste (1–100 kg) $6.00 minimum
General waste (101 kg +) $57.50 per tonne
Out-of-region loads $62.50 per tonne
Refrigerators / freezers (with Freon) $25.00 each
Refrigerators (Freon removed certificate) $10.00 each
Appliances (stoves, washers, etc.) $10.00 each
Furniture with springs (mattresses, sofas) $10.00 each
Computers & televisions No charge
Tires (car/truck up to 22”) No charge
Large equipment tires $120.00 each
Clean concrete or tree stumps $20.00 per tonne

⚠️ Please note: Some materials such as liquid waste, paint, hazardous or human waste, and contaminated drums are not accepted.


♻️ Recycling Program

Residents are encouraged to recycle and keep reusable materials out of the landfill.
Recycling bins are available at the landfill site for the following items:

  • Paper: office paper, newspapers, magazines, and catalogues

  • Cardboard: corrugated and boxboard

  • Metals: tin and aluminum cans, metal lids, aerosol cans

  • Glass: clear bottles and jars (lids removed)

  • Plastics: containers labelled with SPI codes 1–7

Please rinse containers and keep recyclables clean to ensure they can be processed.


🚛 Transfer Stations

Val Quentin residents must use the Highway 43 East Regional Landfill.
Local County transfer stations are reserved for Lac Ste. Anne County residents only.

Lac Ste. Anne County operates 8 Transfer Stations located near Rich Valley, Onoway, Darwell, Cherhill, Sangudo, Rochfort Bridge, Mayerthorpe and Hillcrest for use by County taxpayers only.  Waste collected at the Transfer Stations is hauled to the Main Landfill Site and paid for by Lac Ste. Anne County.  Lac Ste. Anne County residents must have a Transfer Station Permit card to access these sites.  Residents of Towns, Villages and Summer Villages within the County do not pay towards the operation of these Transfer Stations, so they are NOT entitled to use them.
