Working Together to Keep Our Community Safe

In the event of an emergency where evacuation is required – the Gazebo at CANTIN PARK is the
MUSTER POINT for the Summer Village of Val Quentin!

The Summer Village of Val Quentin is a member of the Ste. Anne Summer Villages Regional Emergency Management Partnership (SVREMP). This partnership brings together neighbouring Summer Villages to coordinate emergency preparedness, response, and recovery.

Through SVREMP, our municipalities share resources, training, and planning to ensure an effective, unified response
during emergencies such as wildfires, severe weather, or power outages.

How We Prepare

Under Alberta’s Emergency Management Act, each municipality must maintain an emergency management plan.

Val Quentin meets this requirement through SVREMP, which includes:
•  A Regional Emergency Management Plan to guide response and recovery.
•  Regular training and exercises for municipal staff.
•  A Regional Emergency Advisory Committee overseeing preparedness efforts.
•  Use of the Incident Command System (ICS) to coordinate responders and resources.

Stay Informed
In an emergency, quick communication is vital. Residents can stay informed through:

• All-Net Connect – receive local alerts and emergency updates by email, text, or phone.

• Alert Ready – national public alert system sending messages to cell phones.

Alberta Emergency Alerts are issued by the communities where a disaster or emergency is occurring.

• Val Quentin Website & Social Media – updates posted as available.

Be Prepared at Home
Every household should have:
• A 72-hour emergency kit (food, water, flashlight, medication, documents).
• A family emergency plan with contact numbers and meeting points.
• Awareness of evacuation routes and emergency shelters.
