The Summer Village of Val Quentin receives fire protection and emergency response services through Fire Rescue International (formerly Northwest Fire Rescue), operating out of the Alberta Beach Fire Department.
Emergency Response

Fire Rescue International provides 24-hour fire suppression, rescue operations, and medical first response for our community.

- Focus on defensible space around your home.

Key Zones:

0–1.5 m: Remove debris, keep non-combustible, move firewood/propane 10 m away.

1.5–10 m: Mow grass, prune lower branches, space evergreens, use fire-resistant siding/roofing.

10–30 m: Thin trees, clear dry debris, create fuel breaks.
Tip: Small prep steps now make your home safer and the inspection easier.

Fire Permits & Reporting
The Summer Village of Val Quentin does not issue fire permits.
If you plan a large, controlled burn, please notify the fire department before lighting it.
If the department is called out and was not informed beforehand, the property owner may be responsible for the response costs.
Fire Costs & Bylaws
Fire response fees are outlined in Bylaw No. 234-10 – Fire Costs.
Residents may be invoiced for costs associated with fire suppression, false alarms, or preventable incidents.
