Mayor Kathy Dion
Kathy Dion was raised on an Angus Beef Farm near Onoway and although she grew up nearby, she wasn’t exposed to “lake” life until she met her husband, Clarence Dion, in 1985. Clarence grew up in Val Quentin and Kathy has been visiting her in-laws ever since. Clarence’s parents are from Gunn and Lac Ste Anne Metis Settlement.
In 2001, Clarence and Kathy bought their first rental property and over the years have owned and renovated various properties in Val Quentin and Alberta Beach. In October 2020, Kathy and Clarence became permanent residents of
Val Quentin.
Kathy has worked and volunteered for the non-profit sector for 35 years in leadership, development and management roles. Most notably, she has volunteered with Girl Guides of Canada for 26 years and is currently active with local Girl Guide units. Her passion for children and youth is clear as she continues to volunteer with local Girl Guide units and works for Lac Ste Anne County’s Out of School Care Program in Onoway.
In November 2022, along with other Mayor’s from across the Province, Kathy was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal! In May 2025, Kathy was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Girl Guides of Canada. The Coronation Medal celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada, and Kathy’s decades of service embody the spirit of community leadership and dedication.
Kathy is looking forward to supporting the Summer Village as we move towards new opportunities and address the day to day needs in the community.
Deputy-Mayor Barrie Ronaldson
Barrie Ronaldson’s connection to Lac Ste. Anne runs deep—he grew up spending weekends and holidays at the family lake house in Val Quentin, where his father served as Councillor and Mayor and was a dedicated volunteer with Alberta Beach Seniors Club. The lake was central to Barrie’s upbringing and shaped his lifelong appreciation for small community living and lake life.
Barrie spent 43 years with Imperial Oil, where he built a fulfilling and respected career. Throughout his life, he also dedicated time to community service, including volunteering as a Director for St. Albert Minor Hockey and with the St. Albert 50 Plus Club.
In 2023, Barrie and his wife Leslie returned to his roots, renovating the family lake house and making Val Quentin their permanent home in November. Now retired, Barrie continues to give back by volunteering with the Alberta Beach 50+ Club, the Alberta Beach Snowmobile Club and the Summer Village of Val Quentin.
Barrie enjoys water sports, golfing, curling, and hockey, and especially loves time spent with his grandchildren—most of all at the lake. He’s passionate about helping ensure that Val Quentin and the Lac Ste. Anne region remain a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable place for families and future generations to gather and grow.

Councillor Kent Galusha
Kent was born and raised in Edmonton. In 2006 Kent met his wife and she shared in his dream to live at a lake year round. In 2022 Kent and his wife found their forever home here in Val Quentin.
This community immediately grabbed his attention with its beauty and the other people he has met that made Val Quentin their home.
Kent is an accomplished Red Seal Millwright with a background in Oil/Gas, water treatment and
pumping systems. In Kent’s short time in Val Quentin, he became quite interested in the community and the lake history. Kent started attending council meetings and that started his path as a Councillor.
Kent is looking forward to serving the residents of Val Quentin and keeping our community safe and beautiful.
